Fusion is defined as the “process of joining two or more things together to form a single entity.” Fusion also describes what we are doing in Ad+PR at Western Kentucky University. While Advertising and Public Relations are separate majors, they share common DNA. Ad+PR majors take several core classes together and they incorporate similar tools in developing campaigns. Both majors also benefit from being in the nationally-recognized, School of Journalism & Broadcasting.

The Ad+PR program is definitely a special place at a special University. With over 200 majors, both the programs are attracting smart and creative students who want to excel beyond the norm. We offer a challenging, yet supportive environment. Our slogan is “Think Out Loud.” We encourage our majors to look at problems in fresh and novel ways. New ideas are needed as the Advertising and Public Relations fields are changing rapidly with more consumers and businesses utilizing digital technologies. You can learn even more about digital technologies and social media by reading over our Website and related links.

Our majors have the best tools to help them innovate. We are housed in an $18 million state-of-the-art building with easily accessible technology. We embrace new media. Real world and hands-on. I mean really hands on! We also have a professionally-managed Ad+PR agency called ImageWest. Our majors can cop class credit for doing real projects for real clients. We also participate in student competitions and stage real events to apply classroom material. Our annual regional video game expo and competition is totally produced by students and faculty.

Want experience and a degree? This is the place. The Advertising major has two concentrations or tracks. Ad Majors can now emphasize Branding (strategic brand communications) or Interactive Experience Design (IXD). Learn More. We also have a unique 24hr minor in Digital Advertising. The Digital Ad minor makes a great addition to most any major. The PR major is grounded in business strategy and is taught by certified PR professionals. Look over the site.
